Why a Trip to Düsseldorf Should Be on Your Bucket List

The first time that I went to Germany was as a child, to The Black Forest and Baden-Baden area, and I remember totally loving it. I went on a school exchange to near Frankfurt as a teenager too, and have been a couple of times back to Germany since, to Hamburg and Karlsruhe. I am a big fan of the country, as there is so much to see and do, with great food and people. One place that needs to be added to the list is Düsseldorf, in the north east of Germany. With plenty to do and see, you can combine pleasure with necessity and make sure that you get some preventative medical treatment whilst you are there.

Visiting Düsseldorf

If you choose to visit Düsseldorf you will be in good hands, with things to do to relax and enjoy yourself, as well as having all of your medical needs taken care of. The city on the Rhine is a good size, but not overwhelming, so lots of it can be covered on a short city break, and there are a huge range of different shops, first-class hotels, award-winning restaurants, as well as a hospitable atmosphere, and all the charms a city has to offer. One thing that is a must is to have a walk along the Rhine embankment to see the city and to relax.

In the Old Town, Altstadt, you can take in all of the delights of the market on Carlsplatz, which is close to the world-famous shopping street, Königsallee. Even if you’re just going to be window-shopping at the luxury brand stores and exclusive boutiques, it is a must on a visit to Düsseldorf. Not only that, but home to art galleries, illustrious hotels and cafés, it is all quite close together. If art is your thing, then there is so much to see and enjoy. The Museum Kunstpalast shows paintings by artists ranging from Rubens to Kandinsky. There is a world-class opera experience at Deutsche Oper am Rhein, as well as the Tonhalle, which is home to the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra.

Preventative Health Tourism in Düsseldorf

Düsseldorf is a popular destination for health tourism. So when you are planning your trip, you could allow yourself a couple of days to enjoy the city, before then going for a preventative procedure at one of the clinics in the city. If you are travelling with your family, then the good news is that there will be lots that they can still go on to enjoy when you have your treatment and recover.

There are a range of treatments that you could have when you choose Düsseldorf as your destination. It could be anything from a cardiology treatment or check up as a way to help your health and prevent anything from happening in the future. As much as the NHS is valued here in the UK, for some extras, such as cardiology check-ups and preventative medicine, there can be long waiting lists, if the option to have it is even there at all. So it is easy to see why choosing a destination like Düsseldorf can be a good thing, combining a trip with treatment. In Düsseldorf it is convenient, easy, and affordable to get a full body health check-up. There are short waiting times, and you don’t even need a reason or a prescription from a doctor to be able to book the check or treatment. The waiting times for tests and results come back either straightaway or very quickly, so there is little waiting around for those too.

Düsseldorf is known for its state-of-the-art medical institutions with quality health care. Furthermore, in Germany, you don’t need a prescription to have a check-up or full body scan, as it’s accessible to anybody. This can be a great reason to book a trip, if you’re looking to find out more about your health and see what you can do to help look after your health in the future.

Where to stay

Düsseldorf has a large number of luxury hotels, as well as a number that are connected to different clinics in the city, allowing you to have recovery in a luxury hotel in peace. Besides treatments that you can book to have, it’s also possible to undergo a surgery, for example neurosurgery or orthopaedics.

In total, Düsseldorf has six 5-star hotels and over fifty 4-star hotels. These include the Steigenberger Parkhotel and the Breidenbacher Hof.

It is great to know that there is so much to do in the city, that is only a short flight away from the UK. You can also drive there or get the train; the city is a driving-friendly city with lots of places to park. One point to note is that you will need to have an environmental sticker for your car in order to drive in the city; this is mandatory.
